Grays began with a shared curiosity between us, Julia and Connor, life partners, about how things are made, where they come from, and why that matters. We are drawn to clothing and objects shaped by place and the people behind them.

We feel incredibly fortunate to be here.

Through developing our own garments, we discovered Ontario’s local wool industry, its farmers, mills, and craftspeople. What surprised us was not just the material, but the closeness of it all. Ontario wool revealed a way of working that felt tangible and human, where land, labour, and design were visibly connected. That clarity became a turning point, shaping how we think about clothing and why we wanted to build a space around it.

That shift led us to open our shop, a place to connect, learn from our neighbours, and share stories about the designers we admire, while exploring the possibilities of Ontario wool.

Alongside this work, we continue to explore other materials, designing small-run home objects in our basement studio. Connor's background in industrial design allows grays to function as a continuous design studio, building for the store while building for our clients.

Grays is a neighbourhood shop grounded in community, bringing together natural fibres, independent designers, thoughtful objects, and wine shaped by land and process.
