Retail Sales Associate (Part time) - Growth to Full Time/Store Manager
About the Role
We're looking for someone who cares about what they sell and loves talking about it - who wants to learn a product deeply and use that knowledge to help customers find something they'll love.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Welcome and engage customers in a way that feels warm and considered, not transactional
- Build lasting relationships with our regular clientele
- Style clients thoughtfully - drawing on your knowledge of fit, fabric, and how things are made
- Develop a deep understanding of every product on the floor - where it came from, how it was made, and why we carry it
- Communicate the Grays story - Ontario wool, local manufacturing, handmade furniture, natural wine, the designers we carry - naturally and with enthusiasm
- Support our monthly in-store events - from setup and hosting through to the close of the evening
- Support day-to-day store operations including opening and closing, restocking, and visual merchandising
- Process transactions accurately via our Shopify POS
- Share customer feedback and observations with the team to inform buying and product decisions
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous retail experience is required - you've worked on a shop floor, you understand the rhythm of it, and you know how to read a customer
- Smart Serve certification is required - or willingness to become certified.
- Weekend availability
- A love of clothing, objects, and how things are made
- Warm, approachable, and naturally curious about people
- Comfortable in an event setting - we host monthly gatherings in-store and your energy matters on those nights
- Interested in independent retail, local production, natural fibres, or responsible fashion - any combination of these
- An interest in natural wine is a big bonus
