Blousing Balloon Sleeve with Raw Linen - Brown

Regular price $1,250.00 CAD

Color Brown
Size2

An everyday wearable sweater with a comfortable high neck, big ballooning sleeves for a bold look that drapes over so so nicely.

A stunning blend of Alpaca, Wool, and Linen for a crispy delicate hand feel.

Kota explains "I’d just started to think it was time to properly focus on the collection, I encountered this yarn. It’s an Italian yarn that mixes soft wool alpaca with a raw, almost “alive” linen. I fell for it instantly and knew I had to use it.

Later, when I was thinking about what kind of shape would suit it, I naturally pictured a form with a gently cinched hem, softly puffed sleeves, and a collar that stands up in a relaxed, fluid way — so that became the design. To give the sleeves more dimension, It's increased and decreased stitches halfway along the arm, using a very knit-specific kind of technique.

It made me really happy, because it felt like the yarn itself was teaching me a shape that had never appeared in Kota Gushiken before."

Kota Gushiken

Kota Gushiken is a Tokyo knitwear designer known for clothes that are weird, wearable and made with real skill.

After his last showroom wrapped, he needed to get out of Tokyo. He couldn’t choose between Miyako Island and Bali, picked Bali for no real reason, and booked a flight for the next night. There, he met someone who told him, “flow your mind, but don’t follow your mind.” Back in Japan, his acupuncturist suggested they’d been talking about mui: being natural, without intention.

AW26 is Gushiken’s attempt at that. Rather than forcing a concept, he followed whatever turned up: yarns he happened across, colours that popped into his head, the people he met along the way.
